Foreign production

Subject categories:

1. AGRICULTURE

Goal: 2a basic information level (introductory) - limited collection containing printed and other resources and a defined access to limited library's own or remote electronic resources sufficient to gain rudimentary knowledge and basic orientation in the subject.

Coverage (languages, country, date):

Languages: acquisition rule to obtain works in the original language or in the language of an original edition is not observed. Generally we acquire translations into a world or a frequently used language. Provision is made for languages of existing or newly forming ethnic groups.

Country: qualified very strict selection from world-wide production without territorial limitation

Date: principally current production, retrospectively as an exception special and classical or fundamental works on the subject if a new edition is not available.

Retrospective acquisition of serials is very rare.

Type of materials: monographs, serials, electronic resources, and microforms, audio-visuals, multimedia, cartographic materials

Link to other institutions:

Subject oriented and interdisciplinary user links - collections are open to users with rudimentary information and subject orientation needs. A link to other disciplines is not monitored.

Users - unspecified group of diverse users

Link to other resources

Relevant subject collections - notably collections of the Institute of Agricultural and Food Information - Central Agricultural Library

Further information:

Within the scope of printed works, we collect in achievable entirety Patriotica, i.e. foreign Bohemica (author, language, and subject). Amongst foreign Bohemica acquired retrospectively are also materials published in historical territories of the Czech Republic, or the Czechoslovak Republic (i.e. territory outside present Czech Republic). In a special rank are missing Slovak works published between 1935 and 1992 inclusive, which are retrospectively acquired as a part of then domestic production (this does not apply to Slovak works then published abroad).

We do not acquire certain types of special documents: scholarly and higher education qualification works (dissertations), graphic works (postcards, posters, calendars, etc.), individually published maps (unless they are essentially significant for the subject), miscellaneous, occasional and trade publications including corporate imprints.

Within the subject category emphasis is placed on these fields of study: landscape planning, parks and gardens (712), other topics are covered just in general. Border and multidisciplinary works are acquired in regard to subject categories with higher acquisition level.
